John Mayer (born John Clayton Mayer, October 16, 1977, in Bridgeport, Connecticut) is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. He rose to prominence in the early 2000s with the albums Room for Squares (2001) and Heavier Things (2003), and later shifted toward blues-oriented material on Continuum (2006). He has won multiple Grammy Awards and also performs with the band Dead & Company.
