Xiomara Laugart is a Cuban singer born in 1960 in Guantanamo, Cuba, who began her career in the nueva trova movement and became known in Cuba as 'the Voice of Cuba.' After emigrating to the United States she was a founding member and lead singer of the Afro-Latin band Yerba Buena, whose 2003 album 'President Alien' was Grammy-nominated. She has since recorded as a solo artist for labels including Chesky Records.
