Bhakti Fest in Joshua Tree, CA is not currently confirmed to be running. Froligo tracks its status, history and similar festivals still happening.

What happened to Bhakti Fest?

Bhakti Fest is on a pause from its annual Joshua Tree gathering, not closed. The organiser says so in its own words on the page for its 2025 collaboration: 'This year, Bhakti Fest is taking a pause from our annual gathering in Joshua Tree, but the spirit of Bhakti is still alive and thriving.' The last dated main-festival edition ran September 27 to 29, 2024 at Joshua Tree Lake RV & Campground. In place of a 2025 festival the organisation hosted a Bhakti Fest Zone inside Sebastopol Bloom at Ives Park in Sebastopol, California on October 24 to 26, 2025, and it has continued to run retreats, including an Awaken the Heart retreat in Tulum in November 2025 and an Awaken Your Heart Yatra to India on March 1 to 14, 2026. The home page still reads 'Bhakti Fest 2026 Dates TBA' and no dated main-festival edition is on sale. The rest of the site has not moved on: the footer still promotes 'OUR NEXT EVENT: bf x sebastapol bloom, October 24-26, 2025', the copyright line reads 2025, and the deepest festival pages describe the September 2024 edition. A third-party kirtan directory lists the next Bhakti Fest as '2027, Dates TBA' at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center, a different venue from the 2024 site; that is not confirmed by the organiser. Dates, venue, lineup and tickets for the next edition are all unpublished. No cancellation, closure or wind-up notice has been published for the festival.

What it stands for

The festival describes itself as celebrating the devotional paths of yoga, kirtan and meditation. It is run by Center for Spiritual Studies, a nonprofit whose stated mission is to create transformational experiences around music, yoga, meditation and conscious living, and which names love, unity and spiritual growth as its core values. Every event, retreat and programme is dedicated in memory of Ram Dass, and seva, described as selfless service, is presented as central: the organization donates to and raises awareness for the Love Serve Remember Foundation, Seva Foundation, Share Your Care, Ramana's Garden and Food for Life Vrindavan. The gathering is family friendly and substance free, with alcohol, cigarettes and drugs prohibited on site, and the organizer states a commitment to minimizing its ecological footprint and to inclusivity

The experience

What's special

Bhakti Fest is a devotional festival in the California high desert built around kirtan, yoga and meditation rather than around a headline music bill. Editions have run across several music stages plus a yoga hall, a healing sanctuary, a sound healing space, a visual and performance art programme, Kidsland for children and a vendor village, with camping on the festival grounds. The last dated edition brought together more than twenty yoga teachers, more than thirty workshop presenters and more than forty kirtan and music acts, headed by names such as Krishna Das, Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, Janet Stone and MC Yogi. Pre- and post-festival immersions, sold separately, extended the weekend at both ends

What people love

The organizer's own site publishes attendee testimonials that emphasize belonging, dancing together, and gathering in the desert. These are promotional quotes selected by the festival, not independent reviews, and no independent sentiment corpus was gathered for this record

The practice

Who it's for

all levels. The organizer says programs are suitable for all levels and that family participation is welcome. The published range runs from gentle meditation, mantra and sound work through asana, Kundalini, Prana Flow, Acro Yoga, dance and a walking desert excursion, so intensity varies session by session

Bhakti yoga
Prana Flow
Kundalini yoga

Breathwork, chanting and repeated movements aimed at energy and focus more than a workout.

Hatha / asana

Slower, foundational postures held breath by breath. The classic starting point.

Acro Yoga
restorative and gentle practice

Fully supported poses with props, built for rest and recovery rather than effort.

Accessibility & comfort

What the organiser or venue publishes about getting around, and what they do not.

Disability access

Bhakti Fest publishes nothing about accessibility. Its site is small, 28 pages in total, and contains no accessibility page, no ADA page and no accessibility question anywhere in its FAQ. The FAQ was read in full and covers tickets, will call, arrival times, family policy, lodging, weather, showers, the general store, the lake, the substance-free policy, emergencies and taxis, but never once mentions accessibility, ADA, wheelchairs, mobility, disability, companion or carer tickets, ASL, or sensory needs.

Read the full notes

Two incidental facts that a disabled attendee may still find useful, published by Bhakti Fest itself: there is a shower trailer open 24 hours a day in the campground for campers plus a single-stall cold shower in the same area, and general admission tickets include walk-in camping only and do not allow driving into the campground, so a vehicle camping pass must be bought separately if a short walk from vehicle to tent matters.

Bhakti Fest does not say whether those showers are accessible. IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTION: the only published accessibility material about this ground belongs to a DIFFERENT event. Joshua Tree Music Festival, which uses the same site, Joshua Tree Lake Campground at 2601 Sunfair Road, states on its own campground info page that there are accessible parking spaces reserved in both the day parking lot and car camping in the campground closest to the festival entrance gates, that the festival site is an easy drive and is all paved until you reach the parking lot, and that attendees should contact them in advance to arrange accessible camping, carer's passes and further accessibility needs.

Those are Joshua Tree Music Festival's arrangements for Joshua Tree Music Festival's own site layout. They are NOT Bhakti Fest commitments, Bhakti Fest has never repeated them, and the gate positions, lot placement and camping zones differ between events on this ground.

The shared address is confirmed: Bhakti Fest's FAQ gives 2601 Sunfair Road, Joshua Tree, CA 92252, and Joshua Tree Music Festival's directions page gives the same 2601 Sunfair Road. UNKNOWN for Bhakti Fest specifically: accessible parking, accessible drop-off, accessible toilets and showers, accessible camping, companion or carer tickets, whether any stage or practice area is step free or has a viewing platform, ASL provision, quiet or low sensory space, and whether chair yoga or adaptive practice appears in the programme

Shade & heat

The organizer describes a hi-desert site and advises attendees to expect anything: in mid-September highs can be around 90F and lows average around 66F. The FAQ tells attendees to bring plenty of water, a hat, sunscreen and a scarf or bandana to wet and keep around the neck, and says water refill stations and cooling areas are provided on site

AgesAll ages welcome. The organizer describes the festival as family friendly and substance free; children under 5 entered free in the last dated edition
ChildrenKidsland is a dedicated children's area with activities through the day. The last dated edition listed offerings from The Galactivators and Subhadra Griffiths plus drop-in arts and crafts

Pulled sitemap.xml and pages-sitemap.xml and enumerated all 28 pages on the site; there is no accessibility, accessible, ADA, plan-your-visit or know-before-you-go page. Read the full FAQ at /faq-bhakti-fest-2024 end to end, plus /lodging, /tickets, /bhakti-fest, /about and /experience-more, and keyword-scanned every one for accessibility, ADA, wheelchair, mobility, disabled, handicap, companion, carer, ASL, sensory, quiet, terrain, sand, paved, step free, chair yoga and adaptive. All returned nothing. WARNING for whoever reads this next: a WebSearch summary asserted that Bhakti Fest offers handicapped parking and restrooms and that a platform could be set up on request. That claim could NOT be found on any Bhakti Fest page and a follow-up search failed to surface any source for it. Note also that the site is stale for this venue: the newest FAQ is the 2024 Joshua Tree edition and the next event promoted on the site is an October 2025 event in Sebastopol, so a human may want to confirm whether a Joshua Tree edition is still running before enriching this record. Contact route to ask: [email protected] is the general address published on the site, and [email protected] is published in the FAQ for bell tent and trailer bookings, which is the right route for any accessible-lodging question. No phone number is published

Confirm your specific needs with the organiser's access team before you travel.

What to bring

A full weekend of practice is easier with your own kit. What earns its place in the bag:

Four rolled cotton yoga mats in pink, yellow, blue and blackYour own mat

Rentals sell out and shared mats are thin. Bring a grippy, cushioned mat you trust for a full weekend of practice.

Recovery and comfort. This is desert camping with a physically full programme: asana, Kundalini, Prana Flow, dance, kirtan that runs late and walking excursions into the surrounding desert. The organizer's own guidance is hydration first, plus a hat, sunscreen and a scarf or bandana that can be wetted for the neck. A shower trailer and a cold shower stall are on site, along with cooling areas and water refill stations, and there is a 24/7 first aid booth near the west side of the lake. Nights cool sharply in the high desert, so warm layers and a sleeping setup rated below the mid-60s F are sensible; a cushion or bolster helps for long seated kirtan and meditation sessions on hard ground
