What's special
Midwest FurFest is produced by Midwest Furry Fandom, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and has grown since its first event in 2000, when 388 people attended, to more than 17,000 attendees in recent years, by the organizer's own account one of the largest conventions of its kind in the world. The 2026 edition, themed Bark to the Future, runs December 3 to 6 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois, and names three Guests of Honor: fursuit dance performer Betamonkey, artist and musician Snuffles, and illustrator Zesty. A Fursuit Dance Competition, open to solo and group performers, has been a premiere event at the convention since 2011, with finalists performing on Sunday afternoon

The nearest major airport is O'Hare International Airport (ORD); the organizer's Registration FAQ directs international attendees to the currency exchange at O'Hare Terminal 5, and several room-block hotels are named for their O'Hare proximity (Loews Chicago O'Hare, Hyatt Regency O'Hare)., and from there it is a straightforward drive to the venue. American Sign Language interpretation is provided for all major events, including Opening Ceremonies, the Fursuit Dance Competition, Floor Wars, and Closing Ceremonies; a limited number of interpreters are available and requests are recommended at least two weeks ahead via the Service Desk
Programming is generally appropriate for all ages, including all daylight-hour events; selected programming is specifically geared toward younger attendees. Certain evening programming involving mature themes may be restricted to adults only and is clearly indicated on event schedules.
