Northwestern Winter Chamber Music Festival

Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music holds its Winter Chamber Music Festival each January in Pick-Staiger Concert Hall on the Evanston campus, mixing visiting ensembles with Bienen faculty and guests. The 2027 festival has six concerts from January 8 to 31: the Viano Quartet, winner of the Banff International String Quartet Competition, opens with Haydn, Janáček, Mendelssohn and Schumann; the Horszowski Trio follows on January 10, the Isidore String Quartet on January 15 and the Ying Quartet on January 24. The two faculty concerts feature violinist Ilya Kaler with horn player Adam Unsworth on January 17, and clarinetist Stephen Williamson with violinist Susie Park on January 31.

Concerts are Friday evenings at 7:30 PM and Sunday afternoons at 3:00 PM. Single tickets are $40, or $15 for students with valid ID, and choosing any three or more Bienen events as a subscription saves 15 percent. Sales are final, but tickets can be exchanged for another Bienen concert for $1 each up to 24 hours ahead. The school recommends concerts for children six and older. Parking in the Lakeside Parking Structure and the Segal Visitors Center garage south of the hall is free on weekends and after 4 PM on weekdays.
