What's special
The Tucson Winter Chamber Music Festival, run by Arizona Friends of Chamber Music, reaches its 33rd season in 2027 under artistic co-directors Peter Rejto and Bernadette Harvey. Over five concerts from February 21 to 28 at the Leo Rich Theater, the Isidore String Quartet joins guest artists including violinists Martin Beaver and Jennifer Frautschi, cellist Julie Albers, pianists Bernadene Blaha and Kevin Fitz-Gerald, baritone Randall Scarlata and oboist James Austin Smith in works by Clara Schumann, Barber, Martinů, Brahms and Mozart. The final concert on February 28 premieres the festival's commissioned work by Christopher Theofanidis, sung by Scarlata.
How it works
Concerts are on Sunday afternoons at 3:00 PM and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at 7:30 PM. A single ticket is $50, or $12 for students, and the five-concert pass is $200; every in-person ticket also unlocks the livestream and on-demand video. Festival week adds open rehearsals and a youth concert, and the Festival Celebration on Saturday, February 27 ($160) is a private concert followed by a chance to meet the musicians. The closest parking is the Convention Center's Lot A garage at Church and Cushing ($10), and street meters nearby are free after 5 PM.
