The experience
What's special
NYC Winter Jazzfest spreads more than 100 bands across 18 venues in Manhattan and Brooklyn over eight days in January. Its centerpiece is two marathon nights: the Manhattan Marathon on Friday, January 15, 2027, with eight venues and more than 40 bands, and the Brooklyn Marathon on Saturday, January 16, with seven venues and more than 35 bands, where one wristband lets listeners move between clubs all night. The 2027 bill includes Shabaka, Ravi Coltrane, Lakecia Benjamin, Joel Ross, Sun Ra Arkestra and Wadada Leo Smith, with individual shows at Nublu and an opening and closing night around the marathons. The festival was founded by Brooklyn curator and promoter Brice Rosenbloom and returned to in-person events in 2023 after virtual editions in 2021 and 2022.
How it works
A single marathon night costs $95 and the Two-Day Marathon Pass $160, fees included; the Two-Day VIP Pass at $275 adds priority entry and premier viewing areas at select venues, and the All Events VIP Pass at $586 covers all eight days. Students pay $45 a night in person with a student ID, and a $45 late-night ticket is sold at the door after midnight. Entry to any one venue is not guaranteed, so arrive early for a set you want to see; a live capacity tracker shows which venues have room. Payment is cashless, and age limits of 18+ or 21+ follow each venue.
