Hulaween brings the costumes back to the Suwannee, 22 to 25 October

The String Cheese Incident's Halloween gathering returns to the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida, from 22 to 25 October. Four days, more than fifty acts across jam, funk and electronic, the illuminated art around Spirit Lake, and a crowd that takes the costume brief seriously.

It is the one festival where the campsite effort rivals the stage effort. If you want a Halloween that runs four nights and comes with its own lake of light, this is it.

Austin City Limits traded a weekend of mud for a weekend of dust

ACL's second weekend ran 9 to 11 October at Zilker Park. Weekend one had already earned the nickname MudFest after the rain came through. Weekend two swapped the mud for dust and heat, with highs around 94 on the Sunday. Charli xcx, Lorde, RUFUS DU SOL, The xx and Twenty One Pilots headlined across both weekends, and Kings of Leon took the Friday night slot that Skrillex had played a week earlier.

Two weekends, nine stages, and a lesson Zilker teaches every October: whatever the forecast promises, pack boots and pack sunscreen. If you are already thinking about next year, weekend one is the gamble and weekend two is usually the safer bet.
